NEW ORLEANS, LA (September 7, 2023) –The New Orleans Health Department is excited to announce the selection of six community-based organizations as sub-recipients to collectively receive $1.5 million American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds through the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) process:
Programs Addressing Food Insecurity and Food Access
- Top Box Foods – Produce Prescription & Delivery Program
- Second Harvest – Healthy Food Banking in Central City
- Market Umbrella – Market Match Retail Expansion
- Sankofa Community Development Corporation - Healthy Food Hub Project
Violence Interruption & Conflict Mediation Programs
- Center for Restorative Approaches – School-Based Conflict Mediation
- Ubuntu Village NOLA – Street-Level Community Based Violence Interruption
An open bid was made public in July to highly qualified community-based organizations with an established history that could deliver programs and services to 1) improve household food security and improve access to nutritious foods for New Orleans residents who were economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and 2) to support community-based organizations in developing programs that interrupt adult and/or youth violence in the community. These funded projects are expected to begin by early 2024.
